“Commit to Vote” – why I’m not “liking” it…

In Uncategorized on November 2, 2010 at 7:56 pm

By Abe Haim

So, a Facebook friend posted on my “wall” to ask me if I’ll join him in “committing to vote?”

Well, the simple answer is no.  I’ve been outside the States now for several months – so a bit tricky for me personally to vote this time.  (Yes, I know I could have contacted a consulate and tried to get an absentee ballot sent or whatever, but I didn’t think it would be worth the hassle to do all that…)

But beyond my unique personal circumstances, I find this invitation quite objectionable. (I should clarify that I’m not wanting to single out the friend who posted this on my wall.  I’m sure he means well, and it’s another FB “app” that’s been making the rounds.  He likely didn’t even individually post it on my wall, the app probably lets you click a time or two to automatically post it on all your friends’ walls.) Yes, Facebook has lots of apps, and sometimes I even get something posted on my wall from Farmville or Petville or Mafia Wars or whatever. Those I usually just ignore…

But committing to vote…what’s wrong with that?

I actually usually do vote, even in those little elections in April that people usually ignore. This isn’t an anti-voting rant, though plenty of good stuff has been written making the case for the futility and/or counter-productiveness of voting. There are also good arguments on the other side.

Why do I (usually) vote? Well, a number of reasons, including: 1. so the pro-voting die-hards won’t be able to use it against me in an argument 😉 2. ballot issues – when an issue is directly voted on by the people, it can often make a real difference for the better…too bad we don’t have that at the national level! 3. local races -when you get down to the local level, such as city council, grassroots often outweighs the corporate interests, and there are often some good people to vote for. In the bigger races, I’ll sometimes vote for the “lesser evil,” and sometimes vote for a third-party candidate who usually doesn’t have much chance of winning, but at least that way I get to register the fact that I don’t like the R *or* the D.

But I’m not wanting to tell people to vote or not to vote, or even who to vote for or not vote for. I’m here to talk about this ribbon that appeared on my wall. For those of you who haven’t seen it, here it is:

CTV logoNote that the “O” in “VOTE” is the Obama campaign logo.  Now, are there really still people who would be encouraged to vote by that Obama logo?!  Obama isn’t even up for election this year, so why is his logo on this campaign?  Is that supposed to give me an extra warm and fuzzy feeling and help convince me to make it to my local polling place and mark my vote for every Democrat on the ballot?

I would have thought that even people far less radical than I am would by now forever associate that O logo with broken promises, with betrayal of all principles, and with hypocrisy in the extreme.

I mean come on folks, Bush may as well have had a third term!  He’s continued the Wall Street bailouts, escalated the wars, and even taken Bush and Ashcroft’s attack on our civil liberties to a new extreme – the Obama administration now claims it has the right to murder U.S. citizens without trial if it considers them to be a “terrorist threat.”  Let me repeat that – Obama is claiming the right to kill US citizens.  No trail.  No judge.  No jury.  Just murder.  You might think I’m making this up, and believe me, I wish I was, but here it is – plain as day in the mainstream media:

And yeah, I know, they claim it’s just for “terrorists,” and *for now* it will probably just be used against Muslims (“First they came for the…”), but ultimately they can claim anyone is a terrorist, and remember – there’s no due process whatsoever.

So, like I said I’m not gonna tell you whether or not to vote, or who to vote for…But please, for the love of God (or Gaia, or Humanism, or whatever the hell you believe in), wake the fuck up people!

And have a little consistency for crying out loud.  If it was wrong for Bush to do it, then it’s just as wrong when Obama does it, and you should be just as outraged.  Speak up, talk with your friends and family, raise some hell.

If you decide to vote for a corporate-puppet Democrat as a lesser evil, then tell everyone that’s what you’re doing and why.

But whoever you vote for (or don’t vote for), speak out the rest of the year, and pay attention to what’s really going on, and not to the propaganda circus!  Let everyone know that even if you voted for Obama that you don’t support most of his agenda.

On election day you get to make what’s usually a very limited choice that probably doesn’t reflect how you really feel.  But every other day of the year you can speak out and let everyone know exactly how you feel.  So please people, make your voices heard all year long…and no more Obama-O’s!

9/11: Denial and Faith

In Uncategorized on September 11, 2010 at 5:38 pm

By Abraham Haim,

It’s now more than nine years since 9/11, and many people – probably most Americans –  still don’t know that the *THREE* skyscrapers of the World Trade Center were brought down with explosives.

Why not?

Is it because of a lack of evidence that this is true?  No.

The evidence is overwhelming.  In all three buildings, including the 47-story World Trade Center building 7, which wasn’t even hit by a plane, the collapse was total, symmetrical, and at near free-fall speed.  In the case of WTC 7, it fell neatly into its own footprint.

Demolishing a building by controlled implosion is not easy.  It takes a lot of experience and planning, and the cutting charges have to be put in just the right places and the detonation sequence timed just right.  If the demolition is not done just right for whatever reason, the results will be far from picture-perfect, as you can see in the video-clips below, where the building either fell over to the side, or failed to be brought completely down:

Now contrast those clips with these of WTC 7 coming down:

This is an obvious case of a controlled demolition.  At least it’s obvious to those who aren’t prejudiced.  A Dutch demolition expert, who believed the official account of 9/11, but who, like many people, didn’t know that a third skyscraper fell that day, was showed footage of building 7 falling.  He has no doubt that it was brought down by explosives in a controlled implosion:

And yet the government wants us to believe that World Trade Center building 7 was brought down perfectly into its own footprint by only a few relatively small scattered fires.

If this evidence weren’t enough of a “smoking gun,” scientists have found not just a “smoking gun,” but a “loaded gun.”  Throughout the dust scattered across lower Manhattan when the Twin Towers and building 7 came down, they’ve found not only chemical evidence of explosives being used, but pieces of unexploded nano-thermite, a high-tech explosive.   A peer-reviewed article with this proof was published in a scientific journal more than a year ago, which has yet to.  Here are a couple videos, the first of American architecht Richard Gage, and the second of Danish scientist Niels Harrit, one of the main authors of that article.

And there is heaps more evidence and analysis out there – a good place to start being the Archetechts and Engineers for 9/11 Turth website: www.ae911truth.org –  what I’ve presented here so far is just a summary of some of the most glaring proof.  The point is that with the evidence that’s been uncovered, it’s no longer a theory that the World Trade center buildings (including WTC 7) were brought down by controlled demolition, it’s proven fact.

So with so much conclusive evidence, why then do so many people not know the truth?

A number of reasons…

The simplest is plain ignorance.  Three are still many people who haven’t yet seen the evidence presented, or at least not a good presentation of the evidence. A major reason for this is that (especially in the United States) there has been a near-total blackout of coverage of any questioning of the official story – both in the mainstream media, and in most of the left-leaning alternative media.  There have been a few exceptions, and hopefully more will come in the future but, for the most part, the average American has had very little exposure to any arguments or evidence against the official story.

But for many people, it goes beyond simple ignorance.  With a lot of people, when somebody tries to present the evidence to them, they just don’t want to see it.  There is a strong element of denial.

The implications of explosive demolition are very troubling. Explosive demolition means that the destruction of the World Trade Center had to be an inside job.  This means that certain people at the highest levels of power within the the American government and corporate structures were involved in carrying out these atrocities.  Naturally, many people don’t even want to consider the idea that elements within their own government could be responsible for such a cold-blooded mass-murder of their own people.

The explosive demolition of the the WTC sky-scrapers also disproves the official conspiracy theory of 9/11, whereby it was carried out by a cabal of Arab Muslims led by Osama bin Laden, who was operating out of a cave in Afghanistan.  This conspiracy theory has become a sacred myth in post-9/11 America.  The elite have used this myth continually in their push for more military aggression abroad and police-state powers in the “homeland.”

This myth has become key to many Americans’ notions of patriotism and national identity.  And many leftists and other critics of US foreign policy have developed a parallel myth based on the same official conspiracy theory, though in this version, instead of the America being an innocent victim, the effect was “blow-back” – a reaction to U.S. military aggression.

And for some, the denial runs very deep.  Some people, even after seeing the proof, continue to insist on the truth of the official story, no matter how outrageous it might be.  For these people, it reaches a level of faith.  A faith in the essential benevolence of their government.  A faith in the sacred myth of 9/11, and a passionate will to defend it and viscously attack any challenge to it as heresy and blasphemy.

In George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four, the protagonist Winston Smith is tortured until he believes that two plus two equals five.  Until he has uncritical faith in the government to point where the State had become God.

Such is the faith some people have in the official story of 9/11, but it has no basis whatsoever in logic or reason.  And two planes bringing down three steel-framed sky-scrapers at near-free-fall speed doesn’t add up any more than 2+2=5.

This blind-faith in the official government lies of 9/11 has brought nothing but catastrophe to the United States and the world.  Two major wars or aggression have been waged in the name of 9/11, and they continue at full-throttle under a Democratic administration, with the possibility of another war still on the horizon.  The economy has been crippled.  The constitution has been gutted, with invasion of privacy becoming the norm.  Our government tortures people and detains them definitely without trail.  All of this started under Bush and has continued under Obama.  Now he’s taken it a step farther, with the Obama administration declaring that they have the right to assassinate American citizens if they suspect them of involvement in terrorism.  That’s right, the president says he now has the right to be judge, jury, and executioner – to kill U.S. citizens on mere suspicion.  I’m not making this up!

So when are people finally gonna say that enough is enough?   When are we all going to come out and scream “the emperor has no clothes!”

On this ninth anniversary of 9/11, I urge all of you to take this opportunity over the next several days and weeks to talk with your friends and family about what really happened on 9/11.  Share videos and articles with them.  Show them the proof.

I know it’s not an easy topic, and you’ll probably get some hostile responses, but we can’t afford to keep silent.  The stakes are just too high.
